Kevin East Unveils Double A-Side Release Featuring “Rhythm Of Life” and “Shining Light”
“Rhythm Of Life” is the new album by Kevin East that celebrates togetherness, love, sadness, and feel-good vibes. The collection of songs draws inspiration from the many emotions and experiences that shape everyday life, bringing people together through the universal language of music.
The album holds a deeply personal meaning for Kevin East, as it is lovingly dedicated to the memory of his son, Maxwell, and his brother, Micheal. Through this heartfelt tribute, Kevin honours their memory, celebrating the lasting love and connection that remain a part of life’s journey. They are forever loved, forever remembered, and always part of the rhythm of life.
Born and raised in East London, Kevin East first came to wider attention with the release of his acclaimed self-titled debut album, Kevin East, in 2003 on Ravensbourne Records. The album received outstanding reviews across the soul and urban music press and enjoyed extensive airplay for over a year on leading stations, including Jazz FM and Solar Radio.
The album’s success led to a series of high-profile live performances, including appearances at the Vibe Festival in Burgess Park, all-night events for Solar Radio and Soul City in Dover and Romford, and a headline show at the iconic Clapham Grand.
Over the years, Kevin continued to build a respected catalogue of music through both Ravensbourne Records and his own independent label, Kevin East Music. He also featured on the popular Soul Unsigned compilation series, further cementing his reputation within the UK’s independent soul scene.
In 2016, Kevin signed with DPT Records and released two versions of the single “Funky Times”, featuring legendary trumpeter Kenny Wellington, renowned for his work with Beggar & Co and Light of the World. The release earned praise from listeners and DJs alike, including broadcasting legend Tony Blackburn.
After stepping away from recording and live performance for several years, Kevin made a deeply emotional return in 2026 with the heartfelt single “Watching Over Me”, his first release in more than a decade. The song became Record of the Week on Solar Radio, selected by DJ Gary Spence, and received strong support from stations including Mi-Soul Radio, Our Music Radio, Diverse FM, Soul City FM and Soul Freedom.
A moving tribute to his late teenage son, whose passion for music and dance inspired the project, “Watching Over Me” marked the beginning of a powerful new chapter in Kevin’s career. He followed it with “Funky Eastman”, a vibrant celebration of the golden era of disco that was warmly embraced by DJs and soul music fans alike.
His subsequent singles, “Keep A Light On” and “Cold Heart”, both earned Record of the Week honours on Solar Radio and continue to receive widespread airplay across the UK’s soul radio network and beyond.
Since its release in early September 2026, Kevin East’s album Rhythm Of Life has been receiving encouraging support from a growing number of independent soul radio stations, including Mi-Soul and Solar Radio. The album has also been selected as Album of the Week by DJ Gary Spencer on Soul Radio and DJ Lance Beadle on Love Soul Radio UK, highlighting the positive reception it is receiving within the UK soul music scene.
Kevin East’s brand-new double A-side download release brings together “Rhythm Of Life” and “Shining Light”, two tracks taken from his latest album, Rhythm Of Life. The release offers listeners a glimpse into the sound and spirit of Kevin’s latest musical project, with both tracks showcasing the energy and emotion at the heart of the album. Both singles are available for download at kevineast.bandcamp.com.
With continued airplay and backing from respected soul broadcasters, Rhythm Of Life is building momentum and reaching an increasingly wider audience of soul music lovers.
